The only string retailer owned and operated by a professional oud player
The oud is a unique instrument. Whatever style of oud you play, you deserve strings that make the most of your instrument and fit your playing style. I've been playing the oud for 20 years, and maintain a busy schedule as a professional performer and teacher. I started OudStrings.com in 2011 and for the past seven years have helped countless oud players find the right strings, and worked with string manufacturers to increase the offerings available as well as developing my own custom sets.
I want to help you! When Aquila discontinued their oud string line, many oud players were disappointed. I convinced Aquila it was a mistake and helped them revive an improved version. When customers asked for more options for rishas, I convinced Pyramid to begin offering four thicknesses of oud picks rather than the two they had offered for decades. When fellow Arabic-style oud players were disappointed that D'addario only offered a Turkish set, I worked with D'addario for months to develop an Arabic set (and also corrected the tuning information on the Turkish sets, which had been incorrect for years and led to much confusion). Many people wanted to tune their Godin MultiOud to the lower classic Arabic tuning or Turkish tuning, or wanted a lower tension option. I developed and made available sets for all of these. I worked with Daniel Mari to make available a low-cost set for Arabic oudists. These are just a few of the ways I've expanded the options available to oud players. I'm constantly searching out the best options to help you sound your best.
If you don't see what you need, or are unsure what's best for your oud, please contact me using the contact form and we'll explore your options and develop a custom set if needed.
